What are you seeking? --John 1:38

From "The Questions that find you" Journal built around the questions Jesus asked in the Gospels.

Journal available by contacting the church.   You can watch the message here.

A Response to Question #1

This last week, we began to explore the questions of Jesus.

And on the way out, we were given a booklet...a devotional journal with pictures and the questions.  So, I started the journal.  Below is my journal response to the first question.  I won't be putting every question or response on the blog, but will do some.  But maybe it will spark something in you.

The first question is “What are you seeking?” (John 1:38)

This first question is already making me think deep.

So here’s how I responded and what I wrote in the booklet.

What am I seeking?

My answer.  I’m not sure.

It’s not really fame, or strength.

Some influence.  Some money. Sometimes a bigger church.  Sometimes approval.

It reminds me of another devotional where this scripture was key.  I need to go back and find that devotional and see what the connections could be.

In my men’s group, we sometimes call what we desire our needs.  Not always accurate, but very similar.  It’s what drives us, and motivates us.

So, does seeking mean striving?  Or has my seeking caused me to strive.

The verse “Seek first the kingdom” (Matthew 6:33) comes to mind.

'But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. '

Matthew 6:33 NIV

Am I doing that?

Jesus, will you help me do that?

Will you help me see and name what I am seeking?
